Validation of the Chefs’ Key Competencies Questionnaire: A Culinary Student Perspective

The chef is considered a success factor for culinary tourism. Hence, mastering the chefs’key competencies through schools very important. Many studies have examined competencies, but we not yet discovered how to measure chefs’ key according student perceptions. This study involved 392 students in public vocational high schools. Data was collected by proportional random sampling questionnaire distributed seven Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Questionnaire validation used three techniques, namely, content validity test with Aiken V analysis, small sample Pearson correlation and finally, CFA analysis. shows that students' perceptions of can be explained indicators creativity, skills, hygiene & food safety, aesthetics, business sense, interpersonal, managerial, leadership. Chefs’ Key Competencies (CKCQ) consists 30 items consisting creative (3 items), skills (5 safety (4 aesthetics (2 sense interpersonal managerial leadership items). All (30 items) good reliability values. findings this discuss in-depth some implications education practitioners proposed further improvement. VET also use evaluate achievement professional chefs.
